Rajnikanth to play a Triple Action Role in Rana

Eros International and Chennai based-Ocher Studios have joined hands to co-produceRana, superstar Rajnikanth’s next movie in which he plays a triple role.
Rana will be directed by K S Ravikumar who in the past has directed the southern superstar’s hits such as Muthu and Padayappa.

Scheduled to go on floor in March this year, Rana will be a live action magnum opus with Rajni playing triple role and will be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.
Music would be scored by A R Rahman, Director of Photography would be Ratnavelu, Editing would be done by Antony. The technical and special effects director will be Soundarya Rajnikanth; Charles Darby of Eyeqube Studios — renowned visual effects luminary and an Emmy award winner — will be the visual effects supervisor of the film. The film is scheduled to release in early 2012.
Speaking on the development, Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International Media Ltd said, "Rajni fans will be treated to a triple role essayed by their favourite actor. Rana is going to be far different from any of the recent Rajni films, a complete live action magnum opus with loads of entertainment for his fans."
Soundarya Rajnikanth, Director of Ocher Studios Private Limited, and younger daughter of the filmstar, added, "We are very pleased to announce this partnership with Eros International for Rana. We hope to make a film that will live up to the huge expectations of the movie-goers."
Rajnikanth’s last film Robot  was a super hit that released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, and grossed more than Rs 400 crore worldwide.

Trisha to Star opposite Rajinikanth in Rana

Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ocher Picture Productions in association with Warner Bros Entertainment is producing an animation film which was initially named Sultan The Warrior and later changed to Hara. The film is now finally given the title Rana.
Originally, the film was to be only in the animation format. But Soundarya wanted the last 30 minutes of the film to be live action with Rajinikanth and Trisha. This part will be directed by K.S. Ravikumar. For the animation part, Rajini and Trisha will lend their voices. AR Rahman composes the music for the film.
The animation has been handled by both Indian and Hollywood experts and the film has been under production since last two years. The film, in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English, is being planned for a world-wide release in August.

Rajinikanth Next Film Raana with K.S.Ravikumar

The variety the actor brought to the three roles he played in the film took him to new levels of stardom.

Yet again, Rajinikanth will play three roles in hisnext project ‘Raana’, which brings the Rajinikanth-director K.S.Ravikumar-composer A.R. Rahman combination together after nearly a decade.
For most fans of ‘superstar’ Rajinikanth, the films ‘Muthu’ and ‘Padaiyappa’ made by this combination will invariably figure in the list of all-time favourites. The films came with the stamp of a thorough entertainer with liberal doses of humour and music that made waves.
Though talk of the possible release date of what was originally ‘Sultan the Warrior’ kept surfacing in Kollywood every now and then, each time with a new name for the much talked-about animation film, it will possibly follow ‘Raana’, sources say.

A few months ago, news about ‘Sultan the Warrior’ being readied for release in the name ‘Hara’ started doing the rounds. Some believed that K.S. Ravikumar would direct select portions of the film.
However, news about ‘Raana’ has now rendered all those talk futile.
Sources also say that ‘Raana’ will be produced by the actor’s wife Lata Rajinikanth, for Ocher Studios. The full length feature film, will have Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone playing the female lead.
Rajinikanth is also roping in cinematographer Rathnavelu, who worked with him in ‘Enthiran’.
Rajeevan is the art director. Director K.S. Ravikumar whose collaboration with Rajinikanth set new records at the box office, had been working with Kamal Haasan in the last few years, bringing out films such as the hilarious ‘Panchatantiram’, ‘Dasavatharam’ and the more recent, ‘Manmadan Ambu’.

Vijay Kaavalan Movie Beats ‘Aadukalam’ and ‘Siruthai’

Vijay in Kaavalan
It might have been a bleak scenario for Vijay’s ‘Kaavalan’ as it didn’t open on Pongal day unlike Dhanush’s ‘Aadukalam’ and Karthi’s ‘Siruthai’. The producers of ‘Aadukalam’ and ‘Siruthai’ were on cloud nine as they had a good opening and quite confident that they can spin more profits as Vijay’s ‘Kaavalan’ had some worst problems that would keep it away from release.

Unexpectedly Aascar Ravichandran jumped into the picture getting the film out of cans. Now according to the trade reports, it has been revealed that ‘Kaavalan’ has fully occupancy in many theatres while the collections have dropped down for ‘Aadukalam’ and ‘Siruthai’. Producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja isn’t happy with the results as the theatres are empty and didn’t witness a good business as his previous movies ‘Singam’ and ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’.

No Rohit Sharma in World Cup squad

The exclusion of middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma was the surprise in India's 15-man World Cup squad announced in Chennai. The other bone of contention had been the second specialist spinner's slot, and the selectors have picked both offspinner R Ashwin and legspinner Piyush Chawla, ahead of left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha. Most of the other names in the squad were along expected lines.
India's major concern ahead of the team selection was the injuries to four first-choice players - Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and quick bowler Praveen Kumar - but the selectors picked all four, confident that they will be fit in time for the tournament which starts on February 19.
Piyush Chawla made the cut despite not
having played a one-dayer since July 2008
India's bowling attack for the World Cup will be significantly different from their standard Test attack, with only Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh being named. The fast bowling pair of Sreesanth and Ishant Sharma, and Ojha are all excluded while Munaf Patel, who helped India to a series-levelling victory over South Africa on Saturday, has found a place as the fourth seamer.
The selectors have gone in for a well-stocked slow bowling department, expecting traditional subcontinent tracks for the World Cup. Besides Harbhajan, there are two specialists in Ashwin and Chawla, an allrounder in Yusuf Pathan besides the part-time offerings of Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and Virender Sehwag.
Chawla was also something of a surprise pick, though he is part of the one-day squad currently touring South Africa. He hasn't played any one-dayers for India since the Asia Cup in July 2008, and none of his 21 ODIs have been at home.
The squad also has only seven specialist batsmen, including MS Dhoni, which might be a worry in case of injuries. India haven't played their full-strength one-day side since the New Zealand tour in early 2009. There is no reserve keeper in the squad either, but that shouldn't be a concern as they can have one travel with them in case he is needed at short notice.
Kris Srikkanth, chairman of the national selection committee, was confident India could end their 28-year wait for a one-day World Cup. "This particular Indian team is doing brilliantly for the past couple of years in both Test and ODI cricket. They are playing consistently not only in India but outside," he told reporters after the team was announced. "We are confident this team will do well and win the World Cup for us in front of the home crowd."
He also defended the large spin contingent in the squad. "Don't forget that you are playing in India. The spinners probably play a very major role on the turning wickets. I am confident that the kind of balance we have, the kind of batting line-up we have, this team led by Dhoni will do the job for us."
Squad: MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Praveen Kumar, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, Piyush Chawla, R Ashwin

No One Killed Jessica Box Office Report – Rocks

Rani Mukerji &  Vidya Balan

No One Killed Jessica, the first release of 2011, opened quite well at major multiplexes across the country. The morning shows were in the 45% to 50% range, which is on the higher side considering heroine-oriented films, generally, don’t open too well. The business showed vast improvement in the noon shows and the evening and night shows are expected to fare much better.
In fact, the show-wise improvement has been tremendous at various places, with the theatre occupancy showing a really big jump. No One Killed Jessica enjoys excellent reports and is expected to have a robust opening weekend.
In terms of costing, UTV should make good profits on this one, since the revenue from the Satellite Rights have already recovered a substantial sum of the investment.

127 Hours Movie Trailer Official

Kavalan Love Trailer 'Something Different'

England complete crushing Ashes victory

"Chris Tremlett is mobbed after bowling Michael Beer to secure the 3-1 Ashes win, Australia v England, 5th Test, Sydney, 5th day, January 7, 2011"

England 644 (Cook 189, Prior 118, Bell 115) beat Australia 280 (Johnson 53, Anderson 4-66) and 281 (Smith 54*, Anderson 3-61, Tremlett 3-79) by an innings and 83 runs
Scorecard

England ended 24 years of hurt in crushing style at the SCG as they secured an innings-and-83-run victory to take the Ashes series 3-1. The crowning moment came shortly before noon when Chris Tremlett found Michael Beer's inside edge to bowl him leg stump. It was the first time in their history that Australia have suffered three innings defeats in a series and left nobody in any doubt where the balance of power now lies.
The England players immediately embraced at the striker's end and savoured their moment in a tight team huddle. This has been a victory fashioned by exemplary planning and hard work where no stone has been left unturned. The defeat in Perth, by 267 runs, which levelled the series for Australia, only inspired the visitors to hit new heights and they proceeded to crush the hosts in Melbourne and Sydney.
England were frustrated for a while as showers scudded across the ground to cause a 45-minute suspension and then by an 86-run stand between Steve Smith and Peter Siddle. However, Graeme Swann broke through shortly before the new ball and a short time later Tremlett removed the last obstacle.
Smith and Siddle at least showed some fight as they came out and played their shots. Siddle's batting improvement since his return from injury is one of few bonuses to emerge from a terrible series for the hosts, and it highlights their problems that his run-scoring record is not far off that of Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke.
The England bowlers couldn't quite recapture the intensity of the fourth evening when they claimed the extra half hour to try and wrap up victory. Tremlett appeared a little down on pace after his roaring burst the previous day, but England knew all they had to do was remain patient and their moment would arrive.
Swann had bowled well in the innings without reward so when he had Siddle taken at deep midwicket it was deserved success for giving Andrew Strauss control at vital stages. That was Swann's final bowl, though, as the new ball was taken straight away and Anderson, who will head home for ten days' rest, found Ben Hilfenhaus' edge to give the impressive Matt Prior another catch.
By now the Barmy Army were in full voice. Smith had time to bash his way to a second Test fifty, but he knew the end was close as he swung from the hip. A single exposed Beer to three balls of Tremlett's over and he only needed one delivery. England will party the day and night away in Sydney, yet knowing the focus of Strauss and Andy Flower they will soon be back preparing for the next challenge. Next stop: the best team in the world.

The other release of Salman Khan Veer did well in 2/3 circuits but overall was poor.
