Dabangg Has Huge Second Weekend-Box Office Report
Dabangg continued its huge box office run over its second weekend with around 24 crore nett over its second weekend.
The Friday business was 6.50 crore nett and Saturday was 7.75 crore nett while the Sunday business is likely to come in anywhere between 9.50 -10.50 crore nett.
This takes the film to a 105 crore nett plus total in just 10 days and a distributor share of 62-63 crore making it the second highest domestic earner in just ten days. In circuits like Delhi/UP, Bihar, CP Berar and Rajasthan it may well end up the highest earner ever. Yogaraj Bhat's Pancharangi rocking Box Office
Pancharangi Movie Poster |
Kannada movie Pancharangi, which released on 3rd September, has now become a jackpot for Yogaraj Bhat, who is the producer and director of the movie. Actors Diganth, Nidhi Subbaiah, Ananth Nag, and Priyanka are playing the main roles in the movie.
Co-producer K Subramanya is also enjoying the success of the movie Pancharangi in its first week. The producers have earned around Rs.1.5 crores from all the theatres in Karnataka even in the first week of its run. The industry sources claim that this amount earned is besides the theater rent.
The calculations of Gandhinagar experts say that movie can go on collecting around Rs 5 crore during the second week. Pancharangi has received tremendous response in the first week and the same is expected to continue in the second week too. The good news for producer-director Bhat is that the collections have not fallen yet.
The lead actors Diganth and Nidhi Subbaiah have been applauded for their performance. The songs and dialogues in the movie have been appreciated too. People from all age groups, starting from youth to elders and family audience have been flocking the theaters.
The television rights of Pancharangi are sure to earn the expenditures involved in making the movie. Yogaraj is always known to make interesting movies. Hope the successful journey of the movie continues!

49 Crore Weekend For Dabangg
Dabangg has obliterated all weekend collections to shreds by collecting around 49 crore nett as per early estimates. The final figure may come in a bit lower or a bit higher but it does not matter as the film industry has seen nothing like this before over the first weekend.
Three Idiots had a 38 crore nett three day weekend which was looked at as being earth shattering numbers but Dabangg has made those collections look small.
Dabangg has broken every record in the book be it single screen or multiplex in every centre be it A,B, C or D centre. Mass circuit like Bihar or class circuit like Mysore its the same everywhere.
CI the industry barometer for single screen business had a 1.98 crore nett weekend (Three Idiots - 1.36 crore nett) while East Punjab the barometer for multiplex business was 4.43 crore nett (Three Idiots - 3.22 crore nett).

Huge Advance For Dabangg
Dabangg has recorded what can be called an extraordinary advance in the present box office scenario. The advance is the strongest of the year by far. Obviously due to the amount of shows and screens its not going to get 50 or 60% weekend sold out as used to happen a few years back.
Due to the huge releases advance is not really important but when a film starring a mass hero like Salman Khan whose hordes of fans normally turn up on the Friday takes a huge advance it means something big is on the cards.
In the industry Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan are mainly regarded as the advance stars as their films tend to get big block bookings as they have big following amongst the classes. Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar are the Friday stars who have the huge mass following.

We Are Family Has Below Average Opening On First Full Day
We Are Family had a below average start to its first Friday, this was probably due to fact that the film had seen a partial Thursday release which was a holiday and collections tend to fall after holidays.
Also the first few shows on Friday are mainly dominated by the youth which is not the target audience for We Are Family.
The film may have better collections in the evening with Saturday and Sunday being very important for its long term theatrical business. The reports are mixed with certain segments of the audience liking and others not.
