Director Gautham Menon has his own style of film-making. At times, he finishes his films in just a few months’ time and at times, he takes years together to complete a project, just like what’s happening in ‘Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikkalam’, which was launched more than two years back with Trisha, Nikita and Aparna playing lead roles.
While Trisha is still among the top actresses, Nikita and Aparna have almost faded into oblivion and out of reckoning. It now turns out that Asin was Menon’s first choice but as she was too busy in Tamil (prior to her moving to Bollywood), Menon opted for Trisha.
After shooting a few sequences with Trisha in the lead, Menon went ahead and completed films like ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya’ and now ‘Nadunisi Naaygal’ (which is gearing up for release). Now, he appears very intent to complete and release ‘Chennaiyil…’ at an early date.
Menon has reportedly sent feelers again to Asin to consider starring in the film in the lead role. Asin, who has said quite often said that as and when she gets a plum project she won’t say no to Tamil films, seems to be taking her own time to decide!
